Leather Mallets

The three different models conform to the original construction and the materials of the mallets used for generations in the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera Orchestras.

The wooden core of these mallets, in combination with the outer layer of thick deerskin, gives the characteristic clear impact sound.
Depending on the size of the mallet, between two and five layers of felt, fabric and leather are used – which is reflected in mass and sound.

As in the historical model, the conical shafts are turned from hornbeam.
